  • Whole wheat flour- ½ cup
  • All-purpose flour- ½ cup
  • Sugar- 1 cup powdered (can use lesser if you like less sweeter cake)
  • Cocoa powder unsweetened, good quality 1/3 cup
  • Baking powder- ¾ tsp
  • Baking soda- ¾ tsp
  • Salt- ¼ tsp
  • Eggs- 1 whole + 1 egg white
  • Hot Milk- ½ cup
  • Olive oil- ¼ cup
  • Vanilla extract- 1 tsp or 2 tsp of vanilla essence
  • Hot water- ½ cup


  1. Brush a little oil on baking tin and line with a parchment paper.
  2. Sieve together the dry ingredients (flours, baking soda, baking powder, salt and cocoa powder) twice, mix well and keep aside.
  3. In an electric mixer (or a blender), beat eggs with sugar. Add oil, vanilla essence and beat again. Add hot milk and water to it and blitz again.
  4. Add this fluid mixture to the dry one and mix lightly until no lumps.
  5. Pour the cake batter into the prepared baking tin.
  6. Pop it in the oven and bake at 175 deg C for 30- 35 min, or until a skewer inserted in the middle of it comes out clean.
  7. Let the cake rest in oven for 5 min before removing.
  8. Cool it down on a wire rack and demold.
  9. Dig in the heaven, and enjoy!
