IMPORTANCE OF BREAKFAST
Breakfast is indeed the most significant meal of the day: for all age groups, genders, and genres! It marks the start of our day and regulates the rest of it.
An ideal breakfast should provide calories in the range of 20-35% of your recommended daily allowance (RDA). It must provide a concoction of vital nutrients (especially, vitamins, Calcium and Iron) which if missed at breakfast, are less likely to be compensated for later in the day. It should essentially have proteins and carbohydrates and must be filling. Apart from restoring blood glucose levels and providing energy, a good breakfast also helps you lose weight. Children who eat wholesome breakfast daily have a better cognitive function, and a lesser incidence of obesity, diabetes hypertension and heart diseases later in life. So you see, you must never ever miss your breakfast, and make you kids follow the same habit.
But unfortunately, breakfast is the most neglected meal, knowingly or unknowingly! In morning hours when everyone is rushing to get out of the door, it can really be challenging to prepare a healthy breakfast in time (imagine, if you overslept!). When short on time, we have an obvious inclination towards packaged and mostly unhealthy food options, defeating the motive of a good breakfast altogether.
Here, I would like to put up some really wholesome, tasty and quick (most importantly) breakfast options to kick start your day on the right note. By the way, a little planning on the previous night doesn’t hurt either 🙂
